Amador County California’s Meditation Community
You are welcome to join the Buena Vista Sangha, Amador County's meditation community, for group meditation practice for all levels. We explore meditation methods from Theravada, Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhist traditions, taught in a secular fashion that respects all faiths, spiritual traditions and philosophical orientations. We welcome anyone with an interest in meditation and exploring the essential nature of one’s own mind.
About
Welcome to the Amador Meditation Community (a.k.a. Buena Vista Sangha)!
We welcome members of all faiths and spiritual backgrounds that have an interest in meditation, mindfulness practice and spiritual awakening!
The group was founded by Barry Wadsworth and Dr. Laura Nasatir in 2023. Laura began practicing meditation in 1979, is a practicing psychiatrist in Jackson, California and is a certified mindfulness instructor, having completed a two year training program led by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach.
Barry has been a meditator since 1976, first practicing Transcendental Meditation and TM Siddhis until 1985, when he began practicing Chan (Zen) meditation while living in Taiwan. After practicing Chan for 22 years under Chan Master Shengyen, Barry learned Vipassana meditation from Chanmya (U Janaka) Sayadaw, a student of Mahasi Sayadaw of Burma. Barry has led meditation groups and hosted retreats since 2006.
More recently, both Barry and Laura have completed Nongdro and Dzogchen training under Orgyen Chowan Rinpoche of the Pristine Mind Foundation in Sonoma County, California.
